There once was a unicorn born of pure light
Who lived from nothing but love
until one day she discovered darkness-
As she was taken from her place of safety
Beaten and bruised;
Saddled and ridden until completely broken...
And finally... held down in submission
She was stripped of her magical horn.
From that moment on
She completely lost who she was
As the world reminded her over and over
She was only an animal.
She was bought and sold,
Caged, used, and abused
Until this life became so familiar
That she believed it was who she was-
Just an animal a horse and nothing more.
This is where the young girl found her
And in her caution, she approached the horse
Fearful in her discovery of the creature
Never before seeing something so beautiful
Knowing in her heart that in moving too close
She would scare the animal away.
But with each step she took,
The horse, on the edge of bolting- stayed.
Finally the girl was within arms reach
And looking into the horses eyes
Saw life reflected back to her
Her own story of abuse and trauma
Her own fear telling her to run
But in this place of love
Her hardened heart was coming undone
Until finally she saw the true identity of the creature before her
The forgotten place buried deep inside
The light, love, and purity this animal was born from
A place that her own heart somewhat recognized.
And thats when she saw it-
The scar upon the horses head
And realizing the truly precious creature before her was not a horse at all-
But a unicorn all along
And even without its horn, its identity never changed
Even through the lies of accusation and shame,
The truth will always remain.
And as truth and love collided in this moment
The girl realized standing in this place
That the unicorn was but a reflection of herself-
Perhaps an angel sent to show her the way.
And on this new path of awakening
The girl, now remembering who she truly is
Walking the path of love and light
Where her healing journey can finally begin.
